Phew…
by RVR on Oct.18, 2009, under General, news, Picture of the day, Recent Weddings - Engagements
It has been a while since my last update! To say I have been busy in an understatement. Weddings, fashion events, corporate events, product shots, marketing materials for the wedding show, laying out albums, the list goes on…
We will be at the Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show on November 1st at the Overland Park Convention Center. Designed a new brochure, flyer and business card for the show. We will also be using these materials at David’s Bridal in Lenexa after the wedding show. Got some new metal prints to showcase a few images at both locatoins as well, Here is the front of our new flyer and business card!

Our new Flyer...

Biz card front!
The new brochure can be seen here. It might take a second to load, but it is there and I like it is much better than the previous version.
We have had a couple of weddings and I have been using the new Pocket Wizard Flex TT5 wireless. I really like the set up even with the current distance limitations with the 580EXII. The freedom to move around and position lights like I am in the studio is great! Here is one image from a recent wedding that I really like.

Classic
I set up the flash to the camera right out on the golf course right after sunset. I then set my flash about a stop under the skylight and this is exactly the look I was aiming for! The image below is from another recent wedding where I was able to keep my flash unit up high and camera left, while getting low on the ground to capture the girls and the bride from the kids level. Again, a difficult shot if you are shooting with flash tethered or on camera.

Getting down low!
Still experimenting with the Expodisc. I find sometimes it is just easier to shoot a calibration target to set my white balance, but I am still experimenting with it and like the results I have gotten when I use it.
I have shot several events recently! Has one last night and one today, both of which I will have images posted for in a few days. A couple weeks ago I had the honor of covering a fashion event here at Halls on the plaza for VOGUE Magazine! That is pretty exciting! This model was fun to work with; actually they were all fun and the staff from Halls, Adrianne Vittadini and VOGUE were fantastic…

VOGUE at Halls on the plaza!
A few other things going on. Rated five out of five with The Perfect Wedding Guide (top 25% of KC wedding photographers) and got the same rating on Martha Stewart Weddings. Pictage is working out real well. Our clients love the quality and products; I love the extra time it give me! Clients rating very positive on Pictage. We also just added a new line of products and holiday gifts on our website that we are pretty excited about. If you want to take a look, click here; when you get there, be sure to click on the link for Holiday Gifts!
Product shots are a great time filler. Most of the product shots I do seem to involve food! Gotta taste it all!

Yumm...
There is more, but it has been a long day and got a few long ones ahead so I am going to start by backups running and relax so I can get some shut eye! I will try not to let so much time lapse between posting next time…
See you next time!

by RVR on Sep.28, 2009, under events, General, news, Picture of the day
I covered an event yesterday for The Kansas City Food Artisans. Great people, food and fun! Here are the images taken during the event. You should be pretty hungry after looking at all this food!
I want to send a special thanks to Carol Maser, Mama Dida and Chef Mark for having me capture the event! THANKS! I am looking forward to some more culinary moments with your group in the future.
